A Poem a Day (509): A bird’s eye view

Written to a prompt from Writer’s Digest’s Robert Lee Brewer: write ‘a different way of seeing the world’ poem.

A bird’s eye view

The rainwater is too appealing
to resist – thirst’s relief,
a welcome bath.

A wild wind blows our feathers up
into peaked hats, mohicans
flicked, looking forwards.

On the ground a little bread,
flecks of sandwich-fillers,
the Holy Grail of peanut.

We take a route home over lush
gardens, hunting feeders,
a delightful second course.
