A Poem a Day (195): Skinny roots

Skinny roots

These inquisitive, hungry roots
Spreading like skinny fingers,
Unearthing treasures in dirt,
A multi-faceted dreaming.

An inquisitive moonlit crawl
Carries leaves, bugs and worms
Down into the moist depths,
Seeking solace in this warm
Cave, deep down in the dark.

An eager fascination, foliage
Spilling into gaps in foundations,
Knowing the time to move on.
