A Poem a Day (158): Seaweed

Seaweed

Dark green bubble wrap,
Sprawling out in the big blue
Like the hair of mermaids

Twisting into tiny recesses.
It sunbathes on rock tops,
This edible, functional grass.

Scooping sand with slithering
Fingers, it gathers souvenirs
While surfing the waves.

A bobbly carpet drifting out,
Offering a free ride to shells or
Barnacles with no true heart.
