A Poem a Day (511): A different way of seeing

From a poetry prompt from Robert Lee Brewer: write ‘a different way of seeing the world’ poem.

A different way of seeing

I see a world without guns,
without animosity or hate,
where kids can walk to school
and not be harmed by a stranger,
where a child won’t be killed at home
by those meant to protect him.

There are no police sirens
flooding the streets because
this world is devoid of violence.
Everyone inside is shielded from harm.

There are no knives being carried
in pockets on the streets out of fear
or a desire to do harm to another.
There are no wars between nations
and murder is an unknown word.
Segregation is unheard of.

There are no twists in the tale,
no desire to whip up hate,
no prejudices. There is only calm
in this world, no bitter pill,
only joy and a happy spell
of the imagination.
