A Poem a Day (357): In charcoal

In charcoal

We are drawn sideways, sketched
with ease, charcoal-matched,
discordant lines our frayed edges,
stories etched in clumsy limbs, foretold.
Shading criss-crosses our breadth,
builds layers of soft semblance,
our expressions curious in this echo.
In the final details a new beginning.
