A Poem a Day (359): A body in a jar

A body in a jar

A body in a jar –
sunlight glints glass,
reflects expression,
exposes flesh complexity,
lullabies of the newborn,
for the curious perusal
of strangers.
Liquids pickle onions
in the same way;
just add salt to taste.
A Victorian oddity,
tragic or enlightening,
stacked high on shelves
housed in dark obscurity
until the museum doors open
and the flood begins.
