A Poem a Day (125): Boxes

I wrote this for 2minutesgo, JD Mader’s writing blog. Head over to his blog to write, read or comment over the weekend. Youve got all weekend :) His website pretty much kept me going during writer's block, which has been bugging me since 2014! This is a poem about life as we know it and memories.

Boxes

A life in boxes.
Dog-eared, taped up,
Dusted histories –
A waiting chorus line
For unpacking.

Items for rediscovery,
Stories to be reread
And outcasts of writing;
Unfathomable conceits
Of a youth long dead.

A questionable age
Of endurance.

Things don’t stick
When you’re young.
Life’s burns trickle off
Like water.
